What is your normal turn-around time?

Normal turn-around time is 24 to 48 hours excluding weekends and holidays.

What methods does your company use to transmit information?

RIS can transmit data however it is most convenient for you, either by phone, fax, e-mail or U.S. mail.

Do you have a certain release form that needs to be signed?

Any release form that applicant has signed authorizing the release of information will be satisfactory.  Attached is a copy of a sample waiver of release.

Services are performed on an as needed basis, no contracts are necessary.

Does the applicant have a right to be told when a background check is requested?

Yes, amendments to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA, 15 USC 1681), in effect September 30, 1997, increase the disclosure and consent requirements of employers who use “consumer reports”.  Consumer reports are defined as any report requested in conjunction with determining an individuals eligibility, as indicated in the FCRA, for employment, tenant screening, extension of credit, underwriting of insurance or financial transaction.
